Full-mouth reconstruction typically involves a range of services. All teeth are evaluated to determine which teeth may be saved and which may need replacement. Salvageable teeth will either have fillings, crowns, or veneers. Once removed, some teeth may be replaced with implants, or bridges may be made to replace one or several teeth at once. Sometimes, full-mouth reconstruction will require the work of an orthodontist, oral surgeon, and/or periodontist.
All of this may sound intimidating, but our dentists and team will aid you from start to finish of a full-mouth reconstruction. We start with a review of your needs, including a comprehensive dental exam with X-rays to determine the extent and depth of cavities, tooth fractures, and jaw work that may be necessary. Molds of your upper and lower bite will also be created.
If you have periodontal disease (where your gums are in poor health), you will be referred to a periodontist for treatment. Healthy gums are crucial to supporting reconstructed teeth. An oral surgeon may be consulted if your bite is severely off or if you have deep root or jaw problems. An orthodontist may be involved to assist with realigning your teeth. Each of these professionals will work with our dentists, with the end result being a healthy mouth and teeth that are comfortable and safe to chew with, and a smile that you are proud to display.
